You must see Musandam at least once

Musandam trip packages: Hajar Mountains have several valleys, each known as a ‘Wadi’ in the local language. These Wadis offer adventurous activities to thrill-seekers. Among the first things to do in Musandam, enjoy a highly recommended four-wheel drive in the Wadis of this place. The adventurous drive has many stops where you can get off the vehicle and roam in the area. Among the Wadis, the Wilayat Khasab is a popular site for the Jabal Hareem Fossils – fossils of fishes and other marine animals. Their geological age is around 250 million years old!

Musandam is an Omani peninsula separated from the rest of the country by a piece of land from the UAE. Located in the northernmost point of Oman and surrounded by two gulfs; the Arabian and the Omani, the governorate has a lot of natural and architectural wonders. Here are the best things you can do and see in Musandam.

Khasab Castle is located in the Musandam Peninsula’s capital, the Khasab Province. The Portuguese built this castle in the 17th-century, as part of their undertaking to take control of the Strait of Hormuz and colonize the Khasab Province. The Strait of Hormuz connects the Arabian Gulf to the Arab Peninsula and is a prominent trading route, entry into the Arabian Gulf. The castle was used by the Omanis during their battles with the Portuguese during 1624, after which it became Governor Walli’s residence. The castle also served as a prison. Today it is a museum, which hosts several exhibitions on the history of Musandam. There’s also an exhibition of old documents, clothes, weaponry, jewelry, and other household items from those distant times. Use our blog post as a guide and check out this wonderful museum’s secrets for yourself.

At the northernmost tip of Oman, separated from the rest of the country by a large swathe of UAE territory, lies the Musandam peninsula, a remote region of dramatic mountains and sheer-sided khawrs (fjords), popularly described as the “Norway of Arabia” and widely considered to be the most scenically spectacular in Oman. Musandam is where the mountains meet the ocean, a breath-taking paradise where time comes to a standstill. This tiny region belongs to Oman but is separated from the mainland by the east coast of UAE and lies in close proximity to Dubai. The picturesque landscapes of Musandam feature beautiful fjords, sparkling waters and the mighty Hajar Mountains. Find more info at Musandam Trip Packages.

Adventure travel tours in San Blas and spring 2020 deals

San Blas sailing and winter 2020 offers! San Blas adventure travel destinations are an amazing thing to do right now. The San Blas Islands are off of both Panama and Colombia on the Caribbean coast and stretch along down to the Colon region of Panama. The name is really Guna Yala, after a name change in 2011 but as most people search San Blas, I will call them that in this article. The region is the territory of the Guna people, short for Guna Yala. These are the indigenous people of Panama and Colombia and they actually don’t have the same rules as the rest of Panama – they had a treaty years ago to where they can govern this land in their own way (in many ways but not all). When you arrive, you pay the fees when you come into their territory and stay at their hotels. You can alternatively sail, but from what I gather it’s not entirely legal.

At Tao Travel 365 we believe in eco-friendly travel preserving the beauties of nature and forming meaningful human relationships with the locals, while adhering to our Tao philosophies that focus on being in balance with yourself and with nature. We believe travel opens up horizons, broadens perspectives and affords us an unforgettably enjoyable experience. Receiving this precious gift of life mostly stems from a beautiful interaction with the local culture and thus we aim to maintain this treasure by sharing our love, energy and profits.

Coral Lodge, featured in Conde Nast’s Hot Hotel list, on the coast near San Blas, is the upscale lodging option with handsomely appointed individual water villas each with a jacuzzi, gorgeous views and excellent cuisine. It was rated by Conde Nast as having the “best view from the tub”. Coral lodge has Tahiti-style cabins over the sea with wrap around decks, an indoor jacuzzis and an excellent onsite restaurant. From there you can take day trips to the islands. Nearby trips include boat rides to a pristine island to sunbath and snorkel (which you’ll most probably have all to yourself) a boat trip to snorkel at the famous sunken ship site and a tour of an island Guna indian village. In Guna Yala, lunch and dinner will be freshly caught seafood- lobsters and delectable fish- bring something else if you’re not a seafood fan. See extra info at San Blas day trip.

The 360 or so tropical islands off Panama’s northern coast are home to the Kuna people, who since a revolution against the Panamanian government in 1925 have maintained political autonomy from the mainland. As such, they control tourism on their own terms – a very rare thing for an indigenous group. They know how many visitors are coming to their islands on a given day, where they will be staying, and they benefit directly from most of the tourist dollars spent. Aside from fuel for their motorboats, much of it goes on education, health or permaculture.

Few locations include Mexcaltitan Island ,Singular island with just 5 streets that form a radial structure. The experience of crossing them is unique, since they are completely pedestrian, made at a different scale, which gives a totally different feeling. In the first picture of the town you will find its main tourist attractions, the park, the church and a museum. If you get hungry, there are three restaurants that offer seafood.

To stay true to the technology detox, resting is essential. And in the San Blas Islands, naps are best taken under the shade of the palms. Local families that own the islands sell anything from fruits to beach towels, which you can purchase for a picnic lunch in the shade. The temperature averages at 90 degrees year round, so sunblock and shade will be essential to a relaxing time in the islands.

One of Panama’s top surf destinations is Santa Catalina, on the Pacific Coast. This small but growing town has a laid-back surfer feeling about it. Small guesthouses and hotels, and funky restaurants, force you to slow down and relax. If you aren’t here to surf, great snorkeling and scuba diving spots are nearby, and horseback tours through the surrounding countryside are good options for those not interested in getting wet. One of Santa Catalina’s main draws is Isla Coiba. This lush island, now Coiba National Park, is almost untouched and is considered a biodiversity hot spot, with close to 200 bird species, crocodiles, turtles, and snakes. The scuba diving here is very popular due to the enormous whale sharks that frequent the area. These gentle giants are curious creatures and enjoy interacting with divers. Tours to Isla Coiba can be arranged in Santa Catalina. One of the most fun things to do near Boquete is visiting the local swimming hole at Los Cangilones. Set at a lower elevation than Boquete, the climate here is much warmer, and on hot days you’ll find a fun scene, complete with music, barbecues, food vendors, and Panamanians from far and wide splashing and jumping off the gorge edges into the crystal-clear, warm waters below. In this unique geological place, the river narrows into a gorge before opening up again in a shallow pool at the bottom. Daring adults and older kids jump off the edges into the slowly moving waters and then float down to the bottom, climb out, and do it all over again. Youngsters and visitors who are looking for something a little milder can wade into the shallow waters where the gorge opens up. The walls vary in height, so it depends on how brave you are and how high you want to go. This is very much a family destination. Find more info at https://www.taotravel365.com/.

The historic town of Arta is tucked into a valley that flourishes with almond, olive, and fig orchards. The mountains of Arta provide a lovely backdrop with the rolling hills extending into the distance. In fact, Arta derives its name from the Arabic word for “garden” (jertan). From the town’s parish church, the Iglesia de Transfiguracion del Senor, a cypress-shaded avenue leads up to the hilltop where a fortress and the Santuari de Sant Salvador (chapel) stand overlooking town. Tourists will enjoy splendid views; the scene overlooks the tightly packed red-tile roofs of the town and extends across the verdant landscape. Arta still has the remains of its ancient ramparts, which seem to dominate the town, and many palatial old houses, such as Na Batlessa, home to the municipal library. The town also has a Michelin-starred restaurant, Restaurante Andreu Genestra, on the Carretera de Palma a Manacor in a gorgeous setting with views of the countryside from the outdoor terrace.

Supporting your RV lifestyle tricks and used RVs for sale

A mix of freedom and adventure, RV life is incredible. But there are many aspects that can be optimized, to make your RV life even funnier. After too many items flying off the counter and drawers coming unlatched around a corner, we knew it was time to have a checklist. Just like pilots have a pre-flight checklist, it’s important to have a pre-departure checklist for your RV. Every checklist will be different depending on the type of RV and the gear. The important thing is to make a comprehensive list and check it EVERY time you leave. We got complacent a few times and inevitably we would forget something. Just like the cupboards in your house, everything has a place in an RV. The difference is, when the RV is going down a bumpy road and that bottle of vinegar gets loose because it was put back in the wrong place, you might end up with a mess on your hands. It also makes packing up a much faster process because you know where all the pieces of the puzzle go.

You do not start any project without enough information. Do your research and find out the cost of living in different places. You can look for information from others who are living in their RV full-time. Getting information will make it easier for you to prepare and deal with any unexpected things that happen while you are on your road. RV security system pick : Reolink Argus Wireless Motorhome Security Camera: While the first two products for RV security are alarm systems, this is a security camera. The good thing is that it is wireless and powered by standard lithium batteries. This means you will not have wires flying all around. Plus, it doesn’t matter if there is a power problem; your RV is still protected. Also, the batteries can last for about 180 days without replacement. That is 6 months of effective HD camera performance for your RV’s protection.

Campers have few spots for knickknacks and decorations, but RVs can also be notoriously sterile looking. You’re going to want to take some things to make your little home cozy and inviting. For example, use rugs to add color and soften up your space. Plants can also add life and vibrancy to your home, and help purify the air. I had two hanging plants in our minuscule camper, and they made the RV feel cozy. We hated not having any art on the walls, so we ended up decoupaging small printouts of our favorite pieces right on the walls. You can also use 3M Command Strips to hang up prints or photos or invest in a digital picture frame. Remember, though, the shaking that a camper goes through while traveling can be intense, especially on bad roads. Quakehold is useful for securing things (like artwork and small plants) so they stay put.

Do you want to sell your RV? Our skilled appraiser will assess the value of your 2004—or newer—RV and make a fair offer based on market demand, condition and age of your coach. We have an extensive network of buyers, so we will have no trouble finding someone to purchase the RV that you sell to us. SellMyRVToday.com is run by a 20 year old company with one of the largest RV buyer networks in the country, remaining at the top of the RV buying charts for over 15 years. We’re devoted to only one thing – to help you sell your RV as soon as possible with out the hassle. Everything above is what makes us the best and separates us from the others. See extra details at sellmyrvtoday.com.

RV parking tricks : Determining what constitutes “level” inside an imperfectly constructed RV is an interesting trick. We used a carpenter’s level on our kitchen floor, in several directions, and on our table, and on the bedroom floor. Of course, none agreed! But we found a good compromise and then mounted some RV levels on the outside of the rig to give us a reasonable guess when we’re setting up.

Chechnya tours with unrecognized countries travel

Abkhazia vacations and unrecognized countries travel? Erbil is the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan and it will be the capital of the whole Kurdistan, including land currently in Turkey, Syria, and Iran, if Kurdistan ever becomes an independent state. It is one of the oldest cities in the world, experts claim that first remains date back from the 28th century BC; today, however, Erbil is a pro-Western, modern capital. From Erbil’s Citadel, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, to the Christian district of Ankawa and plenty of bazaars and epic teahouses, you are going to love Erbil and wish to have more days to spend there.

Somaliland, a former British Protectorate, achieved its independence on 26th June 1960. Somaliland united with the former Italian colony of Somalia on 1st July 1960 to form the Republic of Somalia. Somaliland became autonomous from the rest of Somalia, based on the original colonial boundaries, and restored a democratic rule on 18th May 1991 after the civil war. The Somaliland state was established following a series of negotiation and reconciliation meetings involving representatives of different clans (congress of elders) held from 27th April-18th May 1991 in Burao, Somaliland. Constitutionally, Somaliland has a multi-party system of democracy, with an elected president and local council. Since 1991, the country has held 5 democratic elections, and has already established monetary as well as national policies to guide its operations. Read additional info on Unrecognized Countries Tourism.

Though Abkhazia declared independence from Georgia in 1999, there’s no end in sight for its political and economic reliance on Russia, the only major country to recognize the breakaway republic as a sovereign nation. The ruble is Abkhazia’s de facto currency, and—to the chagrin of many native Abkhaz—Russian remains the lingua franca. Russian guards patrol the conflict divide, and as recently as 2016, new Abkhaz-Russian military alliances were being formed, furthering Russia’s sphere of influence in the region and angering Georgia and the international community. But as one learns quickly in Abkhazia, foreign occupation and a burgeoning tourism industry aren’t mutually exclusive: According to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia, 3.5 million tourists visited in 2017 alone, some 90% of which were Russian (though many also visit from Turkey, Belarus, and to a lesser extent, Europe).

?Unrecognized Countries constitute an interesting and important anomaly in the international system of sovereign states. No matter how successful and efficient in the administration of their territories they are, they fail to achieve international recognition. In some cases, the unrecognized country is more successfully both from a democratic perspective and from an economic perspective. Especially in such cases, why wouldn’t the international community recognize unrecognized countries? Read more details at politicalholidays.com.

Manaslu circuit trekking presents Nepal attractions

Everest trekking advices for an amazing trekking destination. Here are some advices if you plan to tour Himalaya. Stay Out of the Sun Whenever Possible. The higher you go up in altitude, the lower the levels of UV Protection you are getting. Some days on the trail, the sun can be brutal, giving you solar radiation from its powerful rays. Staying out of the sun is not only good for minimizing those pesky wrinkles and avoiding skin cancer, but it can also improve your chance of being successful on the trek. When you get sunburned you become dehydrated, and back to the tip of keeping yourself hydrated, being dehydrated can cause all sorts of problems in the mountains and eventually limiting your chance of success. Of course, when you are walking during the day, there may be no cover from those potent rays, but you need to take as much care as possible to minimize those harsh emissions. The first way to protect yourself if by applying a factor 50 sunblock throughout the day. The mountain is not the place to top up that holiday tan you are hoping to bring back to work with you on your return home, when you get back to Kathmandu after the climb, you can do as you please, but while in the mountains, you need to block those harmful rays from your skin. The second way of protecting yourself is to always wear your goofy looking, yet extremely important, sun hat. Get yourself a light weight, brimmed sunhat to wear on days when the sun is shining and you will save yourself from some of the dreaded headaches you so adamantly want to avoid.

Langtang area is famous for trekking. The area is less crowded and best for different kind of taste of culture and Himalayan views. The close up views of Langtang Himalayan range is mind blowing. The scenery here is spectacular, and the trek more adventurous as the area is visited by fewer tourists. To the west of Langtang is Ganesh Himal with a range of 6000 to 7000 meters. The Gosainkund and Helambu region lies to its south; these can be combined with Langtang to make treks from 7 days to 21 days. The area was designated Nepal’s first Himalayan National Park in 1971; it is inhabited by Tamang and Sherpa people whose religious practices, language and dress are much more similar to those of Tibet than to the traditions of their cousins in the middle hills. The forests in the region have temperate and sub-alpine vegetation. Wildlife includes migratory birds, deer, monkey, Tahr and Pika. The best time for trekking the Langtang area is spring and autumn. Most of the trekking routes in Helambu and Langtang are well served with teahouses making independent trekking quite possible. But there are no such facilities in the Ganesh Himal area or Ganja La area. A journey to the Langtang valley offers an opportunity to explore the Tamang villages, climb small peaks and to visit glaciers at a more comfortable altitude than other trekking regions.

Top Sri Lanka safari tours

Sri Lank wildlife safaris and holiday tours … an incredible travel location that we will focus in this post. Which has the most leopards? Yala National Park: has a higher density of Leopards compared to Udawalawe and is well known for being one of the best places in the world to spot leopards in the wild. The most popular area at Yala open to tourists is block 1, which has an estimated 25-30 leopards. However, leopard-spotting cannot be guaranteed at Yala and you should only go with the mindset that among all the amazing wildlife you will see, spotting the leopards is more like the icing on the cake. Alas, even if you see them, you will quickly be put off by the sheer number of jeeps queueing (almost climbing on top of each other) to get a good look at these elusive animals. Continue reading below about the crowds at Yala for more insight.

Sri Lanka is one of the best places in Asia for seeing wildlife. It is also one of the best all-round wildlife destinations in the world for a mix of big game, marine life and varied landscapes, all packed into a compact area with a very good tourism infrastructure. The island’s isolation from the mainland, the heavy rainfall of the two diagonally-blowing monsoons, and the country’s wide range of altitudes, have given Sri Lanka a variation in climate and biodiversity normally found only across an entire continent. On top of that, the island has become known as the easiest place in the world to see the hitherto elusive blue whale, the largest animal to have ever lived in the planet. There are plenty of places around the world that have become viral travel hotspots overnight. A few popular Instagrammers or vloggers blow a place up and all of a sudden it becomes a must-do activity while you visit a region. The palm tree rope swing at Dalawella Beach is a prime example of a social media hotspot. Having said that it’s an awesome spot for a fun afternoon or a sunset and chill place to hang out whether you intend on getting that ‘Instagrammable’ travel shot or not. The location of the swing is on Dalawella Beach, which is in the south of Sri Lanka near the popular town of Unawatuna. It takes about two hours to get to Dalawella Beach by train from Colombo and will cost a couple of bucks for the ticket. Once you are at Dalawella Beach the exact location is actually in front of a guesthouse called Dream Cabana.

The Temple of the Tooth is a highly sacred place. The temple contains one of Buddha’s teeth. Legend has it that the tooth was taken from the Buddha on his deathbed, then smuggled to Sri Lanka from India. It was smuggled in the hair of a princess, after her father’s kingdom had been besieged. It immediately became an object of great importance and has been celebrated and paraded throughout history. However, many attempts have also been made to steal or destroy the tooth. Twice daily, pujas are held to celebrate the relic and offer visitors and devotees the chance to get a glimpse of the tooth within its casing. At the summit of Adam’s Peak is a footprint cast in stone. It has spiritual significance to a number of different religions, however, there is currently a Buddhist monastery at the summit. To the Buddhists, the footprint is that of Buddha’s; to Christians, the footprint is Adam’s; and to Hindus, the footprint is attributed to Shiva. The site is a popular place of pilgrimage, especially on full moon nights. The trek to the top of the mountain to see the footprint is via a steep staircase containing over 5000 steps. The trail is lined with many tea stalls and food shops which act as places of rest. Most people begin their hike at 2:30 am to reach the summit in time for sunrise.

The Blue Grotto is approached by a winding road on a cliff high above the Mediterranean Sea. The spectacular coastal scenery provides an exciting introduction to the nature site. Not to be confused with the Gardens on the Bay, the Botanic Gardens are also worth a visit. Indeed, a walking trail leads to the gardens’ heritage trees, which are conserved as part of an effort to protect the city’s mature tree species. Travel to Sri Lanka for an awesome wildlife safari

Sri Lanka wildlife safaris and vacation tours … an incredible destination that we will focus in this post. Udawalawe is in our opinion the best safari in Sri Lanka because it provides a truly gratifying experience. You can get very close to animals, particularly the elephants, and you’re never bothered by other jeeps and tourists. Whilst your chances of spotting leopards at Udawalawe are less than at Yala, there is nonetheless a healthy leopard population in Udawalawe that sightings do happen, for example when we saw the two cubs playing. You’re also almost guaranteed to spot Sri Lankan elephants as well as red-spotted deers, wild water buffalo, sloth bears, crocodiles, monkeys and many different species of birds.

Wasgamuwa is in the dry lowlands of the North Central Province, 40km north of the richly bio-diverse Knuckles Massif. All of the big game is found in Wasgamuwa, but bears and leopards are pretty elusive. However, it is very good for observing family units of elephants, still relatively wild with unpredictable temperaments. Situated in the wet south-west of the island, this is the country’s premier rainforest. The canopy towers up to 45m in places and more than half of the trees here are found nowhere else in the world. Mixed-species bird flocks are a key feature of Sinharaja. Around six endemic birds may make up one flock, including species such as red-faced malkoha, green-billed coucal and Sri Lankan blue magpie. Animals present include leopard, purple-faced langur, barking deer and three types of squirrel. Find extra details Sri Lanka safari holidays.

Getting a tattoo in a developing country is always an interesting experience. In Sri Lanka there are plenty of different tattoo studios to choose from. I was in Unawatuna in the south of the country and found a tattoo artist called Sajee in the nearby city of Galle. I visited the studio to meet Sajee and check out some of his work. The studio wasn’t spotless but it was fairly clean and the photos of his previous work filled me with confidence. A few hours later I had a tiger on my arm. You might call it risky but this was one of my best memories and one of the epic things to do in Sri Lanka that I definitely don’t regret!

This white sand beach in the small seaside town of Unawatuna is a great place to relax. There are a number of snorkeling and diving operators in town who take advantage of the abundance of coral reefs just off the beach. Colorful fish and plentiful turtles are the norm in these waters. There are a number of great dining options along the beach, which welcome visitors to use their sun loungers and relax the day away with a drink in hand. Visitors can find Gal Viharaya in the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. Gal Viharaya is a famous Buddhist site and is celebrated for its many caves and large sculptures of Buddha which are carved into the rock faces. They are extremely well preserved, even though they were crafted in the 12th century. To the side of one of the statues, a code of conduct is inscribed. The code, when followed, was meant to purify the Buddhist monks and bring them together under one order. It was created by a very famous king: King Parakramabahu the first. Today, Gal Viharaya is one of Sri Lanka’s most popular sites of pilgrimage.

The garden was granted its name because it had an air of mystery about it; it was a place where no one but the royal families were permitted to enter without permission.

This beautiful national park includes miles of raw coastline on over 300 separate islands. Each has hiking trails with spectacular ocean and cliff views. The ride is almost 2.4 kilometers long and takes nine minutes to reach the summit. You’re rewarded with sweeping views of the countryside and coastline, including the Japanese island of Daemado. The park is about an hour by bus or car from downtown Seoul.

5 top attractions in Myanmar and the incredible exotism

Myanmar is an incredible travel place, there is such an abundance of color, exotic places and interesting attractions. Few persons have heard about Myanmar, some only know it as Burma, the old name, and most people have the same reaction when they hear something like this from northern Thailand’s neighbors: “Myanmar, is this even a country?”

It is also amazing, shocking and hits you as a very cold shower since you take the first step in the airport. Even though I seriously prepared myself before going out this summer, nothing prepared me for the reality that you will discover there. Whether you want to get there in the very near future, or want to enrich your general culture a little, you should know a few things about Myanmar.

No trip to Asia is left without a premiere, so our last adventure this winter was no exception. What is more, the premiere was, in fact, the fulfillment of an older dream, for which we had a long wait, to visit what seemed to us one of the most attractive destinations in Asia, Myanmar. It’s been a few months since then, and we tell you with all our heart that all our efforts have been rewarded with peak and thick. And this despite the fact that it is a very large country, with a tumultuous history that has put the locals hard to prove and, of course, with a rather poorly developed tourism infrastructure. However, if you have a bump in your mind and you need a push to embark on such an adventure, we can only say so: if you do your homework in advance, your holiday will be honored.

Speaking of which, we have been told in Myanmar so many times that we are beautiful that we got a bit up. Not being accustomed to such goodwill, I initially thought that there should be an interest in the middle, that they were far too friendly, but it was not. They seem to like tourists, feel good about them and are very curious and sincere. Only in Bagan did I meet traders who were a little more insistent, but not as far away as the Balinese, the Turks or the Moroccans. At the first refusal, any attempt would end, which, we tell you from experience, does not happen much in other parts. And, as a very valuable tip, remember “Mingalarbar”. It is the greeting of the locals, it means a good day and you will surely impress them, especially if you come through the rural areas. Discover additional details on https://globalhawkmyanmar.com/.

Moreover, the roads are not bright either, air competition exists, that is, but it is completely lacking (or near), in terms of hotel services would have enough to learn from their neighbors a bit more experienced, and trips on on their own they are very cumbersome. In fact, in some places, you can’t do much on your own, but you have to rely on private taxis or organized trips that are not cheap. One by one, Myanmar is a destination for connoisseurs, for those travelers who already have some experience in organizing holidays on their own, and is, in many ways, quite difficult to digest. The miracle happens, however, when you understand it, because then you will clearly fall in love with places and people as well.

Contrary to (my) expectations, tourism in Myanmar is highly developed. They have very good hotels and resorts, agencies that offer guide and transportation services, domestic flights, restaurants and shows for tourists, souvenirs, observation towers, information boards, children and women who keep you and follow you on a bike-only basis. Almost all women and children, regardless of status, area or job, wear tanaka face: a tree resin paste. Top Sri Lanka tailor made holidays

Sri Lanka safaris and holiday tours … an amazing destination that we will focus in this post. Sri Lanka is proud of its natural bounty. For over 2,000 years, swathes of land have been preserved as sanctuaries by Sri Lankan royalty – Mihintale, the world’s first reserve, was created here in the third century BC. Now there are 100 areas of protected land in the country, and this is the pick of the bunch… Located in the south-east of Sri Lanka, Yala is a beautiful area of lowland dry scrub sitting on a long stretch of coastline, punctuated by rocky outcrops. It is the premier national park of Sri Lanka, and arguably one of the best for mammals in Asia. The top draw is the Sri Lankan leopard, a sub-species endemic to the country; in certain areas of the park, the average leopard density is as high as one cat to every square kilometre. During the fruiting of the palu trees in June and July, sloth bears are often observed. Other animals you might spot include sambar (a large deer), spotted deer, buffalo, wild pig, stripe-necked and ruddy mongooses, langur monkey, toque monkey, golden jackal and Indian palm civet. The combination of freshwater, marine, scrub and woodland areas ensures a high diversity of birds. Indeed, the park hosts 220 different types, and serious twitchers have recorded 100 species in a single day. Ardent birdwatchers should also visit Bundala National Park (an hour away) or the Palatupana Salt Pans (ten minutes away), especially for migrant shorebirds.

If seeing leopards is a must for you, and you feel Yala will increase your chances of spotting them, there is the possibility of organising a safari that combines both Yala and Udawalawe National Parks. We organised our safari with the excellent Master Campers, which we highly recommend. Their safari camp is based near Udawalawe Park so you can dedicate the first day to seeing Udawalawe and the second to Yala.

It is easy to get lost in the cobblestoned alleyways and streets within Galle Fort. Today the area is full of modern restaurants, hotels, clothing, and souvenir shops. Meanwhile, snake charmers and buskers line the seawall. However, the fort was not always such a cosmopolitan spot. A basic fort was constructed by the Portuguese when they made their first landing to the island in 1505. When the Dutch eventually seized control of Galle, they made a number of improvements; including the enormous sea wall that still lines the fort. Galle Fort is an excellent example of what the synthesis between European and Asian architecture looks like. Yala National Park is made up of spellbinding vistas and a true abundance of Sri Lankan wildlife. It has the highest density of leopards in the world, so chances of seeing them are very high. Although leopards are the main attraction here, they are followed closely by elephants, sloth bears and crocodiles. The park is divided into five blocks; some of which were zoned to hunters until Yala became a national park in 1938. Ensure you make time to visit the very informative visitor center at the entrance of the park for insightful displays about the area. See more details Tailor Made Holidays To Sri Lanka.

Hiking in Riverston Sri Lanka was an unexpected highlight of my journey throughout the island. Riverston is a region best defined by the popular term, ‘off the beaten path’. We drove for several hours, parked in the middle of nowhere and then embarked on a hike. We headed across the river and through the rice fields and farmland. There is minimal signage but luckily we had our guide Lukobanda to guide us up. The hike doesn’t have a specific name according to the locals other than the Riverston Hike. The hike looks out over the Knuckles mountain range and the surrounding highlands. It’s one of the short day trip hikes in the area. The end of the hike ends with a sharp 300m drop, which made for some pretty epic photos. From here you can chill and take in the views of the Thelgamuwa Valley, the terraced rice fields, and the Knuckles mountain range. This spot is called ‘The Worlds End’.The hike is 5km long but not incredibly difficult.

Port Canaveral parking advices

Port Canaveral cruise terminal is located 50 miles east of Orlando and 214 miles north of Miami on Florida’s East Coast. It is just 17 miles from Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center. The cruise port is easy to reach via the east-west SR 528, SR 520 and SR 50 which connect with the north-south US-1, Interstate 95, the Florida Turnpike (toll) and Interstate 4. There are 6 cruise terminals numbered 1, 2, 5, 6, 8 and 10. Check out the map of Port Canaveral cruise terminals to see where your cruise ship is located. The channel leading into the port is 400 feet wide, 3.5 miles long and about 44 feet deep.

Given the distance between Orlando and Port Canaveral (about 45 minutes to an hour from the airport), many people decide to stay the night before their cruise in a hotel near the port. If you decide to do this, look for hotels with shuttles. Given the competition for your spending, many hotels offer perks like shuttles to entice you to book with them. In fact, some even offer transportation from the airport. You can view our list of hotels with shuttles here. It’s an easy way to get back and forth from the cruise ship. More info on cruise parking Port Canaveral.

Flying is stressful for solo travelers or couples, but with a family it’s no way to start a vacation. Skip security, dodge the baggage fees and drive. When you drive you can make it fun for everyone (who doesn’t love a road trip, right?), you can find food options that meet your needs and budget, and you’ll never have to worry about a missed connection or lost bag. When you fly into your cruise, all you experience of your cruise departure city is this: the airport, a shuttle, the ship’s terminal. But when you drive, you’ve just added an extra port to your itinerary. Spend a little time in port before or after you go. With a little planning you might find that a day or two in Disney or at Universal is perfect if you’re sailing from Port Canaveral; or go for a tour of Southern food and drink in Charleston, South Carolina; or plan a museum-filled weekend in New York. You get the picture.

Once you exit the ship, you’ll head downstairs towards customs. If you’ve tagged your bags to be picked up outside your room and delivered to your room, you’ll need to find them before going through customs. There are lots of bags, but the sections are well labelled so they are easy to find. I usually check bags for longer cruises, and carry my own for shorter ones. After you see the customs officials, you’ll walk out of the terminal to find the various transportation options. If you are taking the Disney transportation to the airport or the theme parks, they are very easy to find and run continuously.

Since the beginning, Park N Cruise has been dedicated to industry-leading levels of quality customer service and security. Your vacation doesn’t begin on the ship! We make sure you feel secure and at home from the moment you arrive. Don’t waste time worrying when you park with us.

Combined programs main Italy and Sardinia

Fabulous food and wine tours in Italy … Italy should be devoured! Piedmont with its mountains and Tuscany with its hills: fill your senses with tastes from award-winning vintners, wines that range from robust to comforting, old to young, and food that sings and melts in your mouth, all with medieval towns at your fingertips. Italy allows you to slow down, smell the grass, smell the food, smell the wine, see the land, touch history, and devour it all.

Fabulous Sardinia, a must visit for everyone. Take a cruise from the Banchina Dogana (harbor) in Alghero to the tip of Capo Caccia, the long headland that you saw from Alghero’s walls, to visit this beautiful cave, bristling with stalagmites and stalactites that reflect in an underground lake. The Grotta di Nettuno was carved by the sea, in cliffs that tower almost 304 meters above. The mouth of the cave is at sea level, and arriving by water is the most dramatic way to approach, not to mention the easiest. But you can also drive there, about 14 kilometers from Alghero, passing an interesting nuraghi alongside the road. Once there, you’ll need to walk down (and, remember, also climb back up) on the 656 steps of the Escala del Cabirol (goat stairs), carved into the face of the cliff.

In the South-West of Sardinia, among mounts and shrubs shaped by the wind, in the wildest and most isolated Sardinia, an imposing coastline develops for about 47 kilometers: this is the mighty Costa Verde. A succession of pristine beaches such as Piscinas – with the highest sand dunes in Europe – cliffs that burst deep into a green waters sea, so loved by the most daring surfers. You will be amazed by the fantastic sunsets along this coast, where your eyes get lost in a strong elation for the sky turning into pink. Marina di Arbus is not just about the sea: there is the declared archaeological mining site of Montevecchio and also Bugerru, Ingurtosu plus the one of Porto Flavia in Masua. You can’t miss the sea stacks of Pan di Zucchero and the defensive Tower of Torre dei Corsari. In the village of Arbus you’ll find the Knife Museum, which has the heaviest flick-knife in the world. Read more about Combined programs main Corsica and Sardinia.

Guiseppe Garibaldi was the founding father of modern Italy. He spent the last years of his life on the tiny island of Caprera, which is part of La Maddalena archipelago. His farm and house, Casa Bianca, have been transformed into a small museum where you can see the boat in which Garibaldi rowed to the mainland and his famous red shirt. This bold modern structure in the port area of Olbia houses some of the island’s most ancient history. Don’t miss the Roman era vessel which was found in the towns main port. Entrance is free, which is a nice little bonus.

One of the absolute must-do’s when visiting Sardinia (or in fact during any of your travels), is to enjoy the local food and taste. Sardinian food is characterized by very strong flavors, of which Cannonau, the local wine, is the perfect example. Carasau (a type of thin crispy bread), Porcheddu (a frequently basted young pig) and Culurgiones (a ravioli-like pasta filled with pecorino cheese, mint, and other ingredients) are other products of the Sardinian gastronomic tradition. Local restaurant Su Combidu, located in the center of Cagliari, is a great place to explore the different tastes of Sardinia, but there are many more great traditional restaurants across the island, too.

Originally developed as a town for resort workers, the town of Bavaro has become a destination for tourists and locals alike for its 10 kilometers of unspoiled seashore. While it can be crowded, Bavaro beach is definitely worth a visit due to the large variety of amenities located on or near the sands, and its close proximity to Punta Cana itself. (If you’re not staying in Bávaro itself, you likely won’t be too far away.) When you’re not frolicking in the waves or stretching out on the sand, head over to one of the nearby bars and enjoy a drink in the shade.

Punta Cana is also a golfer’s destination, with 10 courses located all along the strip, a seaside escape with luxurious marinas and fine dining, and a wellness corner home to the country’s top spas, including the only Six Senses in the Caribbean. Wherever you settle on this brilliant white Punta Cana coastline–counting 11 Blue Flag certified beaches in its inventory–go beach hopping to enjoy its full splendor. From scenic surf-hub Macao and Bávaro’s hipster beaches Corales and Cortecito–lined with shops, water sports, and beachfront bars–to secluded Juanillo, among others. Spend a day away from the sand and you’ll find a myriad of inland adventures. Cool off in fresh water azure cenotes and lagoons tucked inside forests at Ojos Indígenas and Scape Park, where the family’s tweens can also enjoy ziplines and caving expeditions. Explore the lush Dominican countryside on an off-road safari, tumbling past roadside meat shops, and sugar cane plantations. Along the way, visit the country’s top pilgrimage site at the Basílica Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, and feel the DR’s deep spiritual roots. Looking for Punta Cana transfer?
