Reliable matress buying recommendations right now? The DreamCloud Premier makes its debut in our 2022 mattress ratings. Similar to the standard DreamCloud, the Premier is a hybrid mattress with a medium-firm feel of 6.5 out of 10. In our overall rating of the Best Mattresses, the DreamCloud and DreamCloud Premier are the tallest at 14 inches high. The Premier differs from the standard DreamCloud by offering more layers of foam above the spring coils. DreamCloud says these additional foam and memory foam layers offer more pressure relief while also providing better motion isolation.

If you struggle to regulate body temperature while sleeping and suffer overheating even in the winter, you’ll probably love the OTTY Pure Bamboo and Charcoal mattress. This mattress stays cool even on sweaty summer nights, so it’s a top pick for hot sleepers. It’s also great if you want a mattress that’s a little on the firmer side, but with a supportive top layer. At 25cm, the OTTY Pure mattress is about average for this type of mattress. It has a removable cover for an added layer of protection, but note that it is dry clean only. With up to 2,000 encapsulated pocket springs, as well as two memory foam layers, it’s also pretty comfortable. Our reviewer had been experiencing a lot of lower back pain prior to testing – enough to make getting out of bed or sitting at her desk difficult – but she noticed that the pain lessened when she started sleeping on the OTTY Pure.

This Emma mattress comes vacuum-packed and rolled, and although it seemed to come up to shape within about 40 minutes, we left it the recommended four hours to fully expand. This mattress is certainly on the softer side of medium out of all the memory foam models we tested, so is well suited to those with smaller builds. The sleep surface is made from Emma’s patented UltraDry cover, which is designed to help regulate your temperature and wick away sweat. You can also unzip it from the mattress and wash it. We found this mattress to be very comfortable, with solid support beneath the memory foam layer. This is thanks to the heavy-duty foam at the bottom of the mattress. The upper layer of foam is designed to gently support all pressure points in the body. It suited both side and back sleepers because of this, and impressed even the most discerning of testers.

A good mattress can transform your entire life. We know that’s a bold statement, but true. Your mattress is one of the key factors that affects your sleep, and quality of sleep. We know there is a bewildering amount of choice out there: foam, hybrid, pocket sprung, no turn, rotate. Have no fear! We’ve spent months investigating mattresses and testing them in real-world scenarios to find you the very best. Sleep is vitally important. When we sleep we give our brains and body a chance to repair, recover and process our thoughts. Good-quality sleep will improve your mood and memory as well as help to maintain overall health, weight and energy levels. And one of the most important factors affecting your sleep is your sleep environment, including your mattress. Find more info on Mattressly.

Made in the UK, the Emma uses a different kind of chemical foam to most other bed-in-box mattresses, which the makers say is more durable. While we tried it for just a week or so, we’re not able to comment on whether it’s long-lasting or not but customer reviews seem to confirm that claim. Underneath the soft breathable outer cover is a three layer construction that includes an Airgocell® foam layer for ventilation to keep you cool. A 25mm memory foam layer giving general pressure relief for joints while the thicker foam base targets areas such as the shoulders and lower back to give optimum support. It’s a combination that provided a super comfortable sleep on whatever our chosen night-time position, even though our testers found it sat on the fairly firm side of medium our side sleeper still experienced a restful night without any tossing and turning. Unlike some memory foam mattresses, there was little or no odour and it rose quickly to its 25cm depth once released from its packaging. We’re fond of handles on mattresses, even if they don’t require turning as it means making the bed is a tad easier. It has a returns policy of 100 nights and a 10-year warranty.
